The second glance of summer gone by
winding its way along an open field
traced lovingly in silent poppies
that flow over your eyes.

I miss those poppies
glowing brightly,
dancing in the wind,
beckoning hearts to
soak up the sunshine.

those golden sunbeams.

I moved away from Ventura County in '96, but I can still see those fields in my mind.
