today
I was reading a book
in which a youth stated,
“I wish I knew the future.”

Her brother replied,
“No you don’t;
that would take all the fun
out of it.”

Couldn’t help it; I began to ponder:
What would I do,
if I knew
what tomorrow would bring?
What would I do
if I knew the outcome
of my life, given its current path?

If I didn’t like
what I learned,
would I endeavor
with all my might
to change it?
Would I fight
with every bit of strength
I could find inside.
Would I resolve
to alter the end result?

Or would I give up
on my current plans;
having decided
there was nothing I could do
anyway, so why try?
I wonder.
And if I gave up,
would that affect
my destiny?

Would it be
a chicken/egg thing?
Would my future
come about
only because I found out,
and everything I did,
because of that knowledge,
is what created
my final fate?

I wonder.
I ponder.

Most of the things I wonder happen to be questions with no answers..: )

The egg thing is strange. If you hold it just right...it's one of the hardest things to break...otherwise...it shatters quite easily. Too many eggs in one basket...Don't count your chickens before they hatch. And yet I've found more than on one occasion two yolks inside one egg. Which brings one to question even the egg. Which came first?....acceptance that we'll never know. Sorry but you made me ponder on this one! Hugs.

Sincerely,
Regina
