When I shut out the world for pain to pass
And wall myself off behind bricks of glass
When splinters of hurt does sorrow amass
I lose my way indeed

When I castrate my soul in hope of gain
And promise someday that I'll live again
When the grave of my making, becomes life in vain
I stand as one in need

When all is now lost to the wind of my grief
And weeping or wailing brings no relief
By emotion, I'm tossed as a sere tattered leaf
I seek true love in greed

When all my soul searching leads me to me
And all of the things I promised to be
Disappointed in trying, I stand in life's lee
I kneel alone and bleed

When windows of promise darken and hide
All of the questions I'm hiding inside
When faith is a word I despise and deride
I cannot hope concede

When whispering bile crawls in my ear
Locked in isolation I barely can hear
Surrounded by wire the core of my fear
Death I hold as creed

When my strength is gone in a lifetime of pain
And I don't have the courage to stand up again
My friends are the balm and the victory's refrain
Hallelujah for I'm freed

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

God keep you safe and nurture you completely until you are healed.  You broke my heart with this one, I know this feeling.

I loved the ending

My friends are the balm and the victory's refrain
Hallelujah for I'm freed

Friends get us through so much of what life throws at us. You obviously have some good ones

I would have been sad, were it not for the friendly ending. It really is worse when we bottle up all our pain and frustration.  Working through all these troubles together is really the only way to go. I'm comforted knowing that we are surrounded by people who are willing to offer love over hate, peace over war, friendship over isolationism. Thanks for being in this circle of love.

Bravo Kethry!!  You have found out one of life's little secrets, friends indeed can be one's strength.  And you have plenty of them here, so it DOES make a difference.
Hope all is ok....??  Hugs from Sunny Queensland my friend..

keth,

hi hon...been a while since i've
seen your wonderful work. you write
this with such depth--I feel the pain
but I also see the hope at the end. i
also believe friends are the greatest
thing in this world! Keep writing, and
take care.

This is a magnificent write, Kethry... I think I've walked similar paths... but could never have put it so well. It's good to read your words.

This is well written... but I find it quite painfully disturbing... I trust all is well with you...

Regards and hugs, O Kethry,
