Peyote Don Quixote

An old knight rides an old horse.
He toasts a wine of mushroom sauce
And wears a favor in his hat
That makes him smile a Cheshire cat.

His spirits wields a youthful shield.
That fights corruption every field
He charges giants head to head
With lance and sauce till they are fled

He sits his saddle skin and bone
Leather face and muscles of stone
His visions full of flailing arms
Tall structures standing fields and farms

Time has tolled his hair away and
His hands are sinews of dismay
Dragons cannot stand his dree, this
Knight of glory Don Quixote

Excuse his trampling of the grass
He cannot let corruption pass
Enemies stand every tree and
He will not let them stand or be.

He’s a rune of a gallant way
With a boon that exists today

One of my favorite characters, Don Quijote De La Mancha, noble indeed. Great poem.

Thank you Walker.

Nan, I remember that Cheshire cat. Thank you love.

JM,
No wonder you couldn't find it, I spelled it wrong. Peyote: a stimulant drug derived from mescal buttons, grasshopper. That's one thing I can teach you, is bad spelling.

That's a classic title, Sy.  This poem made me a Cheshire of my own.

WOW. Those little buttons sure inspired you. And the replies are unbelievable. Where in the world...and HOW in the world do you guys get all these smiley cats and fanciful gifs to jump out on these pages????

The title is pure wit and the verse is a lesson and a reminder. Thanks Sy for being so Mind stimulating.... Them there peyotes made many men voracious in their plight! Enjoyed

Sincerely,
Regina

Lovely story you spin. I enjoyed it from start to finish.
