A Single Voice

I entered these poetic walls
So long ago, it seems,
A single voice … a little shy,
To share my life and dreams.

I hoped to find a meaning …
Something tangible and real,
I wished to find a purpose
That would help my soul to heal.

It matters not what led me to
These pages where we write,
What matters is ... I found you all
Upon the web that night.

Your constant inspiration,
Your encouragement and posts,
Have given me the strength to see
Beyond my private ghosts.

I realized from early on
How special that you were,
How often that my views on life
With others here, concur.

A harmony of likened thought,
Of hearts and sentiment,
A growing world where others
Understand and feel content.

A single voice, was all I had,
Was all I'd ever known …
Now joined with your poetic hearts,
I've found I'm not alone.

To know that you are out there …
Not a figment of my mind,
Gives meaning to my world
That there "is" hope for humankind.

/Kit McCallum

I hope you know how much I     all ....

Oh this is wonderful, you have brought back memories for me Kit. I rememeber I only read for a while (being shy and all) then plucked up the courage to post and everyone was just so wonderful and so encouraging. And I have learnt and grown so much since then and I have the wonderful poets upon these blue pages to thank.

Loved your poem and Congratulations on 8000!

Kit, Yes this is like a home away from home here at Passions.  I have not been here that long but do notice when one is away or another doesn't post for awhile...and I watch and wonder like a mother hen...guess that's what being part of this circle means.

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 8000th POST!!!!

All the feelings you described here in this beautiful poem are mutual. If only we could teach the whole world to "sing" like we do on these blue pages. It would be a heavenly place!

I'm new here, and including the other sites that I post on I have only been posting my work for about six months, before that I had never shown any of them to anyone, including my husband and children.
These forum give those of us who have little confidence in our ability a place to go where we can show our work without fear of riducule and even though not all the comments
recieved are good, they are all helpful.
Its also a place to learn from the work of others and for many of us a place to make some very good friends.
I bless the day I discovered the world wide web, it has broadened my horizons to infinity.

Congratulations on your 8000'th post and I love the poem.
Best wishes,
Ven.

Kit,
That's alot of posts.  About 15 everyday by my calculations.  What an accomplishment and a crowning touch to prove it.  Thanks

Kit,  constructive critique....hummmmmm???
Being new here at this site.....maybe I should
just say quite honestly that I enjoyed reading your poem....I have felt those same
feelings in other places before....It is
a wonderful feeling,  when you have so many
that you can call true caring friends.
Thank You for sharing this with me.

Kit,
I'm not doing 15 a day, you are.  If that's an addiction it seems to be to our advantage.  Again, congratulations.
