Fujimaris decided to let his hair grow long
and gained a few pounds or two
they said his rival was strong
maybe martial arts would do
he desired her attentions
but Emiko was not attracted to him

He sent her long stem roses
but she didnt love him at all
he thought they said
she was in love with a Westerner
maybe from Dallas, Texas
an American cowboy, strong and tall
but she was in love
with a Sumo wrestler
he didnt stand a chance at all

He needed to gain another two hundred pounds
maybe he could push Takahashi's feet off the ground
she thought he had a nice butt
to keep his silk Mawashi up
so all he could do
was to cheer for her boyfriend too
bought him a bottle of saki
and changed his contacts
from dark brown back to blue
after the tournament was over
Takahashi retired from the sport
a ceremony cutting his topknot
more time for him now to court
but when Emiko turned around,
she froze with surprise
she was no longer in love with Takahashi
but Fujimaris's sapphire eyes.

Every child is an artist. The challenge is to remain an artist once he grows up.

An interesting poem with an honest ending. And who wouldn't fall for those sapphire eyes! Poor guys, they never will understand women. Come to think of it, neither will I.

Oh Victoria, I adored this one!  I printed it out and plan to find a proper little photo to go with it, and put you into my Pipps Scrapbook if that is okay.  This was simply a delightful poem.
