The River

The river is calm
the stars are shinning bright
a beautiful full moon shines upon the water
the new beginning of a new night.

As I travel down the rivers edge
the sounds of nature all around
frogs a croaking; singing softly
a continous chanting sound.

I see before me
the moon in its full glow
casting a stairway of moon beams
to the rippling waters below.

The river at night
so quiet and serene
I often wonder if natures sounds
ever go to sleep and dream.

As the night comes to an end
the sky begins to light
all sounds seem to stop
their chanting in flight.

Gone is the moon
the stars shinning bright
replaced by the coming
of early mornings light.

The sun peaking up from the waters edge
I know it's here to stay
bringing a beautiful new beginning
to a brand new day.

Lovely...lovely.  And, with each new day comes renewed hope.

I found myself wanting to climb that moonbeam stairway. Glad I didn't, since you made it disappear later. But what about those sunbeams? **smiling**

A very enjoyable poem.

MidniteSun, Thank you for enjoying.   I found myself lost on that stairway one evening. Very mesmerizing! Oh the sunbeams, dang, left those out. Another poem. "smiling"

It's like they know what we miss sometimes. I loved the serenity of this poem. Very smooth and tranquil. Thank you for sharing!
