Wet brush still in hand
strokes of love in progress
laid down
against taut canvas

the model has walked away

I paint
from memory

Sometimes what we remember looks better than it really did. The heart play tricks. I like this poem, because when I scketch from memory is usually better than still life.

you have a very distinct style Duncan, one I have grown quite fond of. This is truly lovely.

Poetic verse placed in the sadness of my heart
mask the sweet yearnings of my soul

Blank canvas
why do you stare at me?

Sometimes when memories get stuck
in my mind,
I don't mind.
