It starts so simply
The coolness creeps into the fingertips
Almost too subtle to notice
A glance

The chills creep into my toes
Through my arms and legs now
Still just chills
A whisper?

Now the coldness enters my lungs
And the back of my neck
A hint of fear
Whispers

My brain is freezing
Thoughts slowing
I scream, silently
Voices

The icy finger touches my heart
I feel it grip it firmly
Can’t break free
Make them stop!

One word...Chilling.  Great job.

Yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery, and today is a gift.  That's why they call it the present.
