The Sea

My mind drifts back
to fun filled times
of days so happy and free
of waves and sand castles all around..
and seashells found by me.

The smell of salt in the air
the seagulls walking by
the warm breezes and sunny days..
of Mom, Dad and I.

We walked and played by the sea
rode waves and drifted back to shore
the castles that we had made..
soon to be found no more.

Years have passed
I venture back to the sea so fair
the waves the same, the smell so devine
and sand castles in the air.

I find a place of beauty
so captivating to me
and as I walk along the beach..
I find tranquility.

The warm sun upon my face
the rippling tides beneath my feet
I still remember of those times gone by,
of Mom, Dad and I..
by the beautiful tranquil sea.

Marie,
How pleasant to find such a fine poem that echos my memories too.  Such fond memories they are.

What lovely memories you have here. Enjoyed hearing them from you. Reminded me of my memories by the sea in England. Yes you've taken me right back there

Marie - This is beautiful for the memories it evokes.  The flow seemed to ebb and flow, just like the sea, which gave the structure of the poem a strength of its own.
