An acoustical apparition wings lightly
on downy feathers floating by,
frolicking notes on a warm summer breeze,
swirling and twirling through the wispy willow trees
that line the northern shores of
Forevermore.

Listen to the bewitching tune of the magical loon,
as he serenades his love throughout the night,
capriciously capturing hearts and minds along the way.
My eager ears crave the loon's song by day,
anxiously awaiting his glorious midnight melody
of sonnets and sonatas, ethereal bonnets
that cover my head in delicious dreams
of mystical madness,
lifting my spirits gently,
soaring my sights to heights
beyond my most fanciful dreams.

Oh, please listen with me to the liquid love song of the loon,
as he sings of the eternal magnetic love affair
between the loon and midnite's moon.
And let my heartsong stay in tune with the loon,
Forevermore.

I knew I was still awake for some reason...perhaps this is it.  Poetry of the night is somehow different.  And much appreciated.

Anikay: Thanks for reading. Wow, I barely hit the enter key, went to get a cup of tea and ZAP!...there was a reply. You are a faster reader than I am a typist. I love loons. (a dedicated Looney Tunes)

Hey, Duncan, thanks for staying awake and reading my loon tune. This is almost the bewitching hour, isn't it? I'll loan you my loon's song so you can hear it in your neck of the woods.

I have to tell you that I am very quickly becoming a fan of your writing.     Your work just fascinates me, as does this wonderful and imaginative piece.  Thank you for this.

Gosh, Michael. What a wonderful thing to say.
I hope I can keep living up to your praise. I really enjoy your poetry, too. And I visited your homepage...you really are an excellent artist. My favorite was the portrait of Sarah. (Maybe in part because my daughter's name is Sara.)
