At age three, my brother fell onto the road out of the car,
He expressed his pain without any hesitance.
The experience didnít even leave a scar,
It happened by coincidence.

At age four, I climbed into the trunk to be of help,
The car rolled down the hill into a fence.
Mom ran from the house and let out a yelp,
It happened by coincidence.

At age five, my mom had worship with us,
With her guidance we said prayers of recompense.
Outside some men survived a crash but made a fuss,
It happened by coincidence.

At age six, with my brothers the car began to roll away,
Mom was just getting her mail, it just made sense.
I hopped on the floor, hands on the brake I made it stay,
It happened by coincidence.

At age eight, I woke up in the middle of the night,
Saying a prayer for my parents, without evidence.
They were spared from a wreck and a horrible fright,
It happened by coincidence.

At age ten, I shot an arrow straight up into the air,
It flew by my head missing me by just an inch,
The feathers came so close I thought they brushed my hair,
It happened by coincidence.

At age fifteen, I fell thirty feet from a tree,
Mom said she thought I had no sense.
I was shocked that no harm had come to me,
It happened by coincidence.

At age eighteen, cars were everything they were meant to be,
I drove them like God had given me no common sense.
Close calls were an everyday occurrence for me,
It happened by coincidence.

At age twenty-eight, I began to realize what was happening to me,
I was accumulating a mountain of evidence.
It was becoming easier to see,
There seemed to be a lot of coincidence.

In my middle age, things came in to even clearer focus,
There was nothing to the idea of recompense.
God had found a way to work anonymous,
It happened through coincidence.

How on earth did I miss this?!?  It's wonderful.  My mother always said that there's no such thing as coincidence.  It's just God remaining anonymous.  But it sounds much more poetic the way you have written it here.  It's sometimes scary to look back and realize all the narrow escapes.  What horror there would be if God ever removed his hand of protection.  Thank you for this write!

Actually there really are no coincidences, just "meant to be", and it appears you have someone who watches over you, as do we all if we just ask.  Loved this poem, and hope you love Passions as much as we do...

Tennessee Angel,
So true.  I got the idea from the words of Bill Moyers, By the use of coincidence God remains anonymous.  I think your mother was right.  So glad you enjoyed the poem.  Thank you.

Mysteria,
We certainly agree.  And I am overwhelmed by Passions.  What a wonderful place.  Thank you.

Sunshinemist,
Thanks for the welcome.  Happy to know you enjoyed my poem.  Marie is my mothers name.  Nice to meet you too.

nakedthoughts,
As to cars, maturity helped or was it middle age?  Thanks for the advice.

I really connected with this. It is by anonymous request I'm still here. So I call out to my protector as my Saving Grace for all the times I fell on my face and lived to tell about it!   Enjoyed this very much.

Sincerely,
Regina

Regina,
It dawns on me that you probably are not the exception.  The challenge is so few recognize who is behind the anonymity.  So glad you enjoyed this.  Thanks.

Larry~
This is a very well thought out piece.  God leads his people through life in many ways and is just a coincidence that he wanted to drag you along for the ride.  You have accomplished and overcome many ordeals and you have taken them so well. I am so proud of you.

Thanks Kel,
See you have been snooping around in the archives. Hope all is well.
