No one to talk to with nothing to say
Didn't even bother to dress today
Sat here and waited for fortune to come
Me and my resume, we'll get it done

Twelve years wasted, at great expense
An asset I am said in self defense
I am loyal, trusted and true
Might I do some work for you?

I read, I write, I plan, I say
I get things done but then I play
I work for money but so you know
Some things I'll not do for no amount of dough!

I won't suck up or be a yes "man"
I won't lie or deny on principals I stand
I work smart, honest I do
Just ask Corning, extension 7122

Work like money doesn't matter, love like you've never been hurt, dance like nobody's watching...

So funny. And the play on Bin Laiden (on)/  been laid off....superb. I'm assuming it was intentional???? But you know what they say about that word, assume. And I'm also out looking for a job.

Humorous way of dealing with a difficult situation.  Enjoyed your poem.

This is just too cute.  I am in the exact same situation, though.  State cutbacks...Ouch.

I really liked those lines.  Great job!

HM3,
I know that tune too well.  But it never sounded that good.  Nice job.  (no pun intended)  And best of luck.  It gets better.

Say "Hey" there poet HM3,
Your blues are clear for all to see.
Like you I felt the fall of the shoe
Twelve years total, my time was through.

On vacation, was Oregon bound
Got the word, by telephone sound.
Dad said "Station Sold!", "Sorry son."
"Enjoy your trip." "Try to have fun."

Lookin' for work since mid August
Just where I haven't the foggiest.
It could be worse, the news says so
At least I've got some severance dough.

Thought you should know you're not alone
As you sell Corning by the phone.

Good luck!

I absolutely love your sense of humor!  There are so many out of work and if they had your outlook their unemployment could be a good experience.  I loved this!

No one to talk to with nothing to say, Hmm. You said a lot and said it well.

Life must have some ups and some downs.
The contrast can make life so rich
When next you enjoy a mountainous high
you'll laugh at the times in a ditch.

May your laughter last a life time !
