Rose in the Mist

In the dismal mist of morning
in the grey of early dawn
There’s a damp and raw forewarning
of a fate that has been drawn

It is etched into a blueprint
of the dank and musky dew
It’s a waiting untread footprint
of a storm about to brew

There’s a rose about to flower
looking upward to the sun
There are threads of fate’s own power
that could shortly come undone

There are petals in the rosebud
deeply hidden from the eye
And the beams to spurn the lifeblood
of its glory, in the sky

There are misty days before me
Some inscribed upon a stone
But concealed behind the stormy
clouds, a rose that I have grown

It is nourished in the lush
of silken petals of my own

So beautiful.....I think I'll have to dig deeper in this to see all the hues of this rose in the mist...

Thank you

How easy it would be for one to think "what a sad poem" and me....I see the beauty that hides within the folds...

this is marvelous, and a keeper...

thank you!

Sunshine, Thank you dear.
I agree, I think of this as a happy poem.

Elizabeth, this is lovely, though I feel the warning in here as well. Much hope reigns within us all, I think. Your rose is beautiful.

I'm nearly speechless here.  Elizabeth you have outdone yourself.  I wish that I had written this, it fits a dear friend of mine so well.  She is my Eternal Rose.  Thank You for this piece.
