~* Autumn In New York *~

Autumn in New York, the season that I simply adore,
All around everything is dying to be born once more.
Autumn’s palette of color is splashed everywhere.
Was there ever such beauty in death such as this,
As when autumn blows summer a farewell kiss?

As I sauntered, the wind gently whispered to my soul.
Leaves danced in a sky of fire, as clouds turned to gold.
She smiled as she danced past me changing seasons.
Was there every such beauty in death such as this,
as when autumn blows summer a farewell kiss?

Like a child I kicked through the leaves piled high,
as an orb of fire sunk fast in the autumn sky.
I inhaled the perfume of autumn on the wind.
Was there ever such beauty in death such as this,
As when autumn blows summer a farewell kiss?

I sat there and stared at her leaves so long,
and before I knew it I had written her a song.
I'm finding it hard to get autumn off my mind.
Was there ever such beauty in death such as this,
As when autumn blows summer a farewell kiss?

~*~

To the natural healing beauty of Autumn in New York.

What a gorgeous poem!
Nature's healing powers bursting forth
once again in living color,
accompanied by a poetic symphony,
words of timeless wisdom and love.

Midnitesun: I have seen your "lights", and I thank you, as not much in nature can compare to those.

Domzi: You live in a beautiful city, and in Autumn, and "this Autumn" especially, I see renewal for your new Spring!  A big hug to you from all of us in Canada.

Absolutely stunning poetry, Mysteria!  I, too, love Autumn more than any other time of year...I am so much enjoying these past few days of crisp fall weather...beautiful writing and great pics, too!

tried to write a letter
to tell you how I feel,
but all I kept on writing
was slipping on the tears from the day...

Mysteria
It was truly heartwarming to read your lovely words about Autumn in New York.  Autumn is long gone for us here in Melbourne as we approach the long hot days of Summer but Autumn is my favourite season and I thank you for allowing me to relive Autumn.
Take care.......Sue

"dying to be born once more"
I do love autumn - It's got a refreshing crispness to the air - and the colors are astounding - I only wish it could last longer... This is a wonderful piece, Mysteria..

Dawn, Martie, Trillium, Nan and Sunshine ~ I wrote this as not only is New York so beautiful in the Fall, but I trust the people there will see through their "fall" to the season New York displays best, and know that Spring will bring a renewal to them in more ways than one.  Thank you all for your responses.
