In a corporeal internship...

A warm hello again to everyone.  In light of recent events, a much-needed break of reassessment, reprioritization, and reafirmation has brought me back with this new poem.  I hope you are all well and in better spirits.  It's good to return, and I'm happy to see that my "TWENTY OR LESS..." series has been faithfully (and most wonderfully, might I add) maintained and upheld in my absence.  A smile and a most sincere wish of peace to you all...  -MVS

"A RIPPLE TO PONDER"

(Copyright 2001 by: MARK V SHELDON)

Even a placid lake
Can drown you
If you don't take the trouble
To learn how to swim
Or assume that the body of blue water
Is shallower than the depths of your transparent mind
Or presume your ability to tread water
Is enough to keep you afloat...

The climate may shock you
At first
But the numbing blankets you
In another way than before...
This time, reality sinks in
Exposing your gooseflesh vulnerability
And you're faced with a quick decision:

Do I sink?
Or do I swim?

Do I sink?
Or do I swim?

........

hmmmm......I hope one would always have the choice to decide....

A warm big welcome Mark ...

"You have been missed" ...and I, for one have missed your wonderful "rippling" thoughts and presence .......

I'm glad that I checked PIP to see this....

Thank you

Thank you, Sir -- nice pun on spell, by the way!  When in doubt, stay on dry land and learn everything you can about the water you're considering entering...  ;->

Or, then again, you can just jump in and go for it..
Hi again, Mark. Nice to have you back. I've been out a lot too lately.

Always test the water first? Lately...even that is dangerous considering the shark attacks. But if I had to choose...swim very close to the shore.... So glad to see you here again! Missed you lots. My husband has a joke "My Mother never let me go 150 feet near the water...Not until you learn to swim she would say!"

Sincerely,
Regina

Hi Sandra...  yes, sometimes one must just jump in.  This one too has "deeper" ripples...

Hi Regina.  Thanks for the missing.  Cute joke, by the way.  Sharks, indeed, but this poem speaks of a different kind...

Thank you, Walker.  Sometimes, you just have to learn...

Thanks Alan, and a good recommendation, at that...  but you may need more than that...
