I never saw it coming
the hole there in the street
and so I fell right in.
Lord, that hole was deep.

And for a while, I admit,
I just simply stood there
screaming deep inside my mind,
"Doesn't anybody care?"

Why could nobody see
all the pain that I was in?
Where were all the people
who so casually called me friend.

I began to grow weary
and my patience wore quite thin.
Enough with all this whining!
There's a warrior within!

With all my might, I reached up
and found the Lord was reaching down.
Slowly I began to rise
until daylight could be found.

Soon, upon the street I stood
staring at the hole with care.
Funny how it seemed much deeper
while I was wallowing there.

Everything is in the perspective, that's for sure....and a good description of Tennessee roads, too!

Oh, now this I can definitely relate to.  I guess I'll never understand how those who are closest to us never seem to see when we are bleeding deep within and just need a few words of comfort.  After all, we all need a little reassurance from time to time.  Nicely written.

by the grace of God.

Tennessee Angel - a deeper hole could not be, when looking up, instead of down...

Nice Write! Great reminder of how I felt when I accepted the Lord into my life!   Thanks for the memories. It's great to see the light after being in a "hole" for so long.
Look forward to seeing more from you, Pixydust
