Back to school shopping, Saturday at the mall
Stopped to rest and leaned against the florist’s wall
Then I smelled the pure sweet summer smell
Roses and Jasmine  - I knew them both so well.

I closed my eyes and could see your face
Smiling at me in that long ago place
Though no longer young, our passion was real
You were the one who taught me to feel

Remembering now that summer of sin
Marriage forgotten, thoughts rushing in
We bathed in the light of tropical nights
Taking our pleasure in sweet love’s delights

I was flying home to tell him I must leave
Having finally found love, as you led me to believe
Then I found the note you had put in my purse
I read it quickly, then sighed with a curse

Jasmine blossoms floated from the page
You said we should remember to act our age
We weren’t young and foolish, you explained
Our affair was ended before I deplaned

I opened my mind, pushed those thoughts away
To remember the pain that I felt that day
Knowing life is not full of roses it seems
I must forget you and those Jasmine dreams.

Oh, this is just so sad, but, so beautifully expressed!

Take care,

THIS is beautiful...truthfully and honestly told...a sad but lovely story.

Oh, I want to cry. This is so sad. Beautifully penned, but sad.

Thank you for your kind comments..but just to let you know this is a work of fiction, it's not real life for me....

PdV, this is a beautiful story. One that happens more than it should. A sad tale that you have told so tenderly.

Okay, okay, if this is a warning, I'll take it!  (It's TRUE...IT'S ALL ABOUT ME!!!)

written with your trademark sadness PdV...and now I'm away for the weekend...(yep, going with the guy I live with too  ) Not to worry, he's already said I can use his laptop as much as I like!

I really liked this...it was Devine.  Hee Hee.  I bet you get tired of hearing that, sorry I couldn't help myself.

I think this is great, especially since it is not from personal experience. I can't even write when the story is my own!

I loved the poem. I think we all have lived or dream of just this thing. I think that a poem like this unites all women. Well done.
