there is a very sad story behind this poem, it's about a boy whose parents divorced when he was very young, more then ten years later he is still effected by it, his mother did not provide him with what he needed and did not want him around, he can't admit it, but he is very emotionally distraught, he was my best friend, but now he's gone...

~Smile for the Picture~

you smile for the picture
to hide it all away
you smile in the pictures
to hide your pain

youre just a little boy
trapped inside this man
a sad little boy
hiding what he can

there is someone in that picture
that isn't really you
there's someone there
i never knew

your afraid to show your sorrow
or even face your truth
remembering the pains
of a tarnished youth

when you want to come back
i'll be here for you
but i hope you come back
as the one i knew

Yes they say that children of divorce are affected emotionally in many ways and for many years...some experience problems with relationships and commitment...James

so sad.  Hugs to you, and him.  *s*

Others stain a life of pain for those that must remain.

For most don't even know who they are,
for without some help they carry a scar.
They carry with them all the blame,
and go through their lives feeling that shame!

Well done indeed, and yes, children are the forgotten victims more often than not in divorce, and you said it well.

it's amazing how we can hide. . . and never be seen. . .

from the heart. . .
