This chill
So early visits me this year
And I wonder of the number
Who feel it more
Who feel a sharper sting of cold.

Seasons change, as do we
Marking times inexorable tick tock passing
That will cool the scalding burn of tears
Shed for those mourned

The steady trickle of memories
Will mix with falling leaves
Once brilliant against the sky
To be carried On journeys fraught
with winter feeling
as highs and lows
Rush to equalize themselves

This chill
So early visits me this year
And I wonder of the number
Who live it more
Who feel the icy grip it holds

When will we ever be warm?

It could be a long cold winter indeed.  Summer invariable returns, however.  Warmth shall return in due time..

Earlier this year I said this coming winter was going to be quite long, and quite cold....

so you're feeling it too?....no wonder the squirrels are exceptionally busy early on....

well done Sir.  I'm knitting your sweater with extra heavy wool....

As I sit with the hottest cup of coffee I could make, refusing to turn on the heat while it's still September, not yet able to turn my eyes or mind from the day two weeks ago for more than a few minutes...I join you in wondering when we will ever be warm.  Excellant write.

It has turned quite cool very early here as well....but, I too ask, when will we ever really be warm again?  Excellent write.

Such a sudden chill felt by all. I'm afraid I will hibernate more deeply this winter. We must snuggle close to our loved ones. Put an extra log on the fire for hope. Love this so much C.

Sincerely,
Regina

Hmmm - living on a ski resort - we pray for snow!  So you learn quickly how to stay warm here.  Loved this account of winter's bite.

Yes...the light-hearted days of summer were cut short...I like what Regina said, we must now come together to get back the warmth.

Lovely poem Cpat.

There are some chills a cup of hot chocolate and warm blanket just can't ease.   This is very well written.

I fear the gripping chill may not be brought on by the seasons changing ... only exacerbating the feeling.
