Where are the angels in the terror of war?
Are they upon your shoulder
as artillery like rain pours?
Where are the angels tonight?
watching closely
clutching their wings of moonlight

Invisible within terror, freedom reins
embracing your heart
beneath a cloud of pain

Guiding through fear of death
consoling each heartbeat
each final breath
as a nation mourns,
children cling to mothers breast
Soldiers march leaving their tearful nest.

For the love of country
protecting each child
courage and strength
against barbarism wild . . .
Replacing love with anger and hate
like armor upon a knight
no longer can they wait

They are soldiers of America
soldiers of all countries
weaving their souls
joining forces together
to let freedom toll

Listen to the angels
for they sing of humanity
voices in our hearts
until the war is done
praying for each soldier
mother, daughter and son..

Every child is an artist. The challenge is to remain an artist once he grows up.

Beautiful thoughts...I believe the angels are always with us although at times we can become discouraged and wonder where they are...as we fight earthly battles the angels fight spiritual battles...James

Hi Victoria,

I heard it said, that when we lose a
loved one, we gain an angel whose name we know. (Oprah at the Yankee game Sunday)
I believe that it a good verse to help in healing. Great poem as always.

May your dreams always dance to the rhythm of a lover's heartbeat...

Oh Victoria ~ Such a heartfelt write, I believe the angels were there, crying right along with the rest of us...and I believe that we should ....

"Listen to the angels
for they sing of humanity
voices in our hearts
until the war is done
praying for each soldier
mother, daughter and son.."

Just as you said.  Thanks for this... Bonnie
