Tea For Three

as sleep departs to whence it came
with the creaking dawn of each day
I resolve to make for you
three cups of tea

the morning’s tea shall be bitter
to remind us of the hardships of life,
the sharpness of regret
and the challenges lying ahead

the tea of the afternoon shall be sweet
to imbue our love with fragrance,
sustain our passion with energy
and caress the affection of our souls

the evening’s tea shall be plain,
neither bitter nor sweet,
as we pray for a gentle death
and a fair reward for our endeavour

Bitter, sweet and plain....sounds like life as well.  We only know how sweet it is because we have had the bitter....I like the thoughts in this poem.

Death comes not when we cease to breathe, but when we cease to dream.

Very well done and very interesting.  Held my attention right through.  Do you have any apple cinnamon?
