Silent Music

The greatest song I’ve ever known
was in the written word
More beautiful the lyrics were
Than any music heard

The verse was like a symphony
each word played equal part
An orchestra of letters
that would wrap around my heart

Percussion was the rhythm
of the meter that I felt
Trumpets were the glory
that the poignant phrases dealt

Tenderness was strummed on harp’s
most delicate of strings
Visions wrought of gentle phrase
that yellow warbler sings

The depth of thought was like the
quiet undertones of bass
That goes unheard, yet pulsing
into memory’s embrace

The greatest music ever heard
were silent words of love
A sonnet with the sweetest sound
Like cooing of a dove

Fabulous work, Liz.  Reads with the flow and timbre of the finest symphony.

Wow....such a beautiful beautiful song....

I'd have to qoute the whole poem to tell you where I liked it best.

But these lines particularly sang to me

The verse was like a symphony
each word played equal part
An orchestra of letters
that would wrap around my heart

Thank you
