Worrier For Hire

I worry for a living, and I'm told I'm rather good,
A job I've had for many years … not widely understood;
I learned so very long ago, this skill that I have honed,
I take the worries of the world, and make them all my own.

I have a knack for worrying … I just internalize,
It matters not the incident, I'll take on any size;
A drought, a famine, missing dog, a broken heart or two,
I'll take your worries on myself, and I will see them through.

It seems this is my lot in life, I cannot let it go,
From war to heartache, I am here to lighten up your load;
Just let me know your problems, I am here for you to use,
Regardless, I will worry … so you have nothing to lose.

It does nobody any good, this worrying you see,
It only serves to weigh you down, and break your sanity;
I'd rather that it just be me … no need for all to hurt,
Just pass your problems on to me, and yours will go inert.

I'm really quite experienced, don't worry that I'm not,
I'll send you several references … I have an awful lot;
I find it comes quite naturally, my wrinkles will attest,
My customers can sleep at night … it's "me" who needs the rest.

Oh sure, It takes a toll on me … perhaps it isn't wise,
But I can't stop this worrying, I've found no compromise;
I know that it's not easy, many hold on to their fears,
But honestly, I'll do the job … it is my true career.

See, worrying won't change a thing, you need to find release,
You may as well just let them go, so you can have some peace;
Just pack up all your troubles, send them to my home address,
I'll worry if you don't, you know … I'm really quite obsessed.

So if your worries overwhelm, just pass them on to me,
I'll fret enough for all of us … and best of all … I'm free!

Ok...IT REALLY was you in the mirror
You just need to be (cadenced) kissed for this one...
*sigh* ... Oh how I relate Kit-girlie...
and oh how I wish I didnt *S*
Mark tells me all the time..."you worry to much, leave some for someone else"
It does take its toll...but some people just have certain instincts that have always led them.
Its all a part of who we are...what makes us-us.
hugs to ya sweet poetess worrywart

Well tomorrow holds only mystery
And who's to say what might be
But in you I found a love so strong
The sun and the moon looked on in jealousy

Oh goody - I'm sending you ALL my worries - Keep an eye open for them - They'll be neatly tied & packaged - I'll send them via ground transport so you won't worry about them en route - I'm so excited that I'll have NOTHING left to worry about... This is GOOD news...

Kit,
Your poetry is excellent
But your offer quite bizarre
If we sent our repent
We would not know who we are?
You are my kind of poet. *L*

Kit, we're twins, we are!
I enjoyed this witty ditty!
I am the master worrier, so much so, I literally have breakdowns every so often - I worry about everything and everyone.  Hun, you wouldn't want my worries!  Funny thing is, us worriers hate the stress, but we thrive on it as well. We can't live with it or without it. It's a double edge sword, isn't it?!

Take care,
Melissa~

Okay, so you're a worrier,
At least you know you are,
So nows the time to take the worries,
And stuff them all into a jar!

Keep them there for rainy days,
And when you're bored, pull one out,
Don't be fussy, any old worry will do
Just pick one to worry about.

I find that if I keep them there,
In a jar, up on the shelf,
They are still there tomorrow,
And I have more time to myself!

So when you think of a worry,
Write it down; stuff it in the jar,
Put it high up on the shelf,
Trust me, you'll forget where they are!

Oh Kit, I couldn't resist.  This is not cadence perfect - but I hope you got my message sweetie  , from an ex-worrier.

Don't Worry! Be Smiley!

I've taken your photo

Sent it on

it was an offer too good to resist
So you'll be happy to know
she put you on the Ten-Most-Wanted list !

My worries are so scattered it would take years to round them up. But when I do, rest assured that I'll share some of them with you...but not all. For some of my worries help keep me grounded in reality, and help propell me forward, out of harm's way, away from negative reaction, and into positive life-sustaining action. Nope, you cannot have all my worries. But your offer is so generous!

Let's not let this offer get out too much  there will be many people that will want to take you up on that.  Including me,  how about one right now---------You can take the worry out of me tonight-------I get my husbands MRI results tomorrow morning.  He has spinal cord cancer and has already underwent radiation treatment but it appears as though it is coming back.  SO----what do you think Kit?  Do you want to tackle this one for me so I can get a good nights sleep for once.

Thanks Kit,   I'll take a deep breath tonight and hold it tomorrow.

Kit,  Thanks for the offer--but, all of this "worry" has brought my relationship with my husband and daughter to a closeness I never dreamed possible, so------I think I'll keep my worries.

P.s ~~~~MRI results are back and so is his tumor,  he will be going through surgery  AGAIN.  But he is a very strong person, physically, spiritually and emotionally so He will get through it o.k. I have faith in him and in God.

Thanks for the concern and the prayers.

This brought the first sincere smile I've had in days - I thank you for that from the bottom of my heart.   And from the bottom of my worry-bag, I'm sending you my entire collection - now I may sleep for a week (if I can stop worrying about how you're going to handle that heavy package without a forklift!)   Wonderful poem, Kit. I enjoyed it very much.

Duncan:  Oh Duncan … please do laugh "with" me. If you cried for me, then I'd just worry about "you", LOL. Glad to hear you've given it up … it's a nasty habit.

hmmmm, how to put this.....

i see you've met my girlfriend
you know her oh so well,
every time you turn around,
she rings an alarm bell.

she is a wonderful girl,
but i wish she would relax,
sometimes she starts and i debate
whether to give her xanax.

i love her deep and true, i do,
but OMG please chill;
once in a while, i must admit,
it drains my very will.

Dear Kit, I'm very sorry I haven't been around
A little wrestle with the flu has had me on the ground...
Now here I see an offer which could only come from you
But I've no worries to pass on - 'cept maybe one or two.....

I'm worried that I'm seeing too much hair upon my shoulder
And lines show on my face as though my skin were getting older..
I'm worried that my belly will droop down below my waist
I'm worried because prunes have taken on a pleasing taste!!

I'm worried that one day all gravity might disappear
And everyone will find themselves just floating in the air.
I'm worried there's a meteor that's hurtling through space
That's gonna smack us someday and wipe out the human race.!

I'm worried that my neighbor's dog will come down with the rabies
And Mother Nature will decide that men start having babies...
I'm worried that one day I'm gonna wind up destitute
'Cause one day women will decide that bugs are really cute!!!

I'm worried that one day I will be balder than an eagle
And governments will pass a law decaring Spam illegal!!
I'm worried as I look for one to spend my whole life through
That I am never gonna find someone as sweet as you...

I NEED ONE OF THESE TODAY!

Sometimes the heart needs the solace of solitude and silence.

/Kit,
I know I'm late but it's a price I can afford. So about my children...
What a great poem. Thanks.

Kit:
This is delightful!
The rest has been said!

A friend of mine who works in real estate was going through a rough period one time and his payments were behind.
The company that financed his car called him about his payment as it was two months behind. They said, "Mr Dunlop we're worried about your car payment it's two months behind." To which he replied, "You mean you've been worrying about it?"
The woman on the other end replied, "Yes"
He said, "You don't know how much better that makes me feel. I've been worrying about it all this time but there's no sense of the two of us worrying about it so why don't you just worry about it and when I get the money I'll send it to you."

Kit - I love the way you write.  Sort of a Balladeer style that I try to emulate.  Nice long sentences writtien without any "cheating" on the sentence structure.  As for the worrying, I'm worried you will forget me.

Thank you for the offer. You sound like me. I have had mine for so long, I don't know if I can even let the go. I was once told, you can't carry the whole world on your shoulders.

Kit-
   What a sweet and thoughtful offer you've made.
   Unfortunately, I can't take you up on it.
   You see...if I gave you all my worries,
   then I'd just end up worrying about what
   would happen to them after that...LOL!
   I am the Master Worrier!  LOL!
   Enjoyed this, my friend.
   Hugs,
   ~Vicky
