Great armies amassed now stand guard o'er the hills
Limbs rattle as sabers exposed to the chill
Their sheaths have been thrown to the ground where they lie
No more to protect 'neath this November sky

Barren of raiment these soldiers shall stand
In face of the onslaught of Winters' deep snows
Vigilant ever each one to a man
cares not that the cold wind of death o'er him blows

These stalwart have weathered the worst many times
Their patience by virtue is measured in years
No strangers to battle in these northern climes
This color guard stripped will shed nary a tear

For the armies that drift through their land do but bring
The promised renewel of the snow melt in spring
