Winding like a scythe
Around the thought processes
Trying to feed through the fiscal
Week, and weaker
Spot slashed to bits
In snowy spurs of reality
Sleep concurs to dry eyes
Squinting at mottled noise
And channels of everything

The texture of the ceiling
Takes the shape of faces
Sometimes evil
Depending
But for tonight the mixture
Will be angels
For I refuse to let anything else
Seep into my realm of peace

Black and white screen clips
Of past Nixon speeches
I had no idea the man
Was supposed to be serious
I thought he was funny looking
And frog jawed
In my flannel comfort and
Bed time stories
I thought he needed
My bunny slippers
To make him happier
Because he seemed drawn and pinched

Remember the TV cut off
When bedtime was inevitable
Because there was nothing else
To watch. The day was over
When the flag appeared
The national anthem
Brought the snow
And the off the air signal

It used to piss me off

I wish I could go back there again.

A-Ha!  How delightful!  Such imagery to me.  "It used to piss me off."  Oh boy!  Loved it.  Absolutely LOVED IT!

Time to search.

Clever and witty write Regina...
yes....it was a much more innocent time...
or it seemed that way...perhaps because they did cut off the endless stream of images.
well done .. enjoyed the edge of sarcasm.

Well tomorrow holds only mystery
And who's to say what might be
But in you I found a love so strong
The sun and the moon looked on in jealousy

Not the snow I envisioned but simple memories are always the best.  Very well written, Reg.

Topeth: LOL! I enjoyed your reply much more than your read!   HUGS!

Janet: Yes. It was my first memory of the American Flag. I would stand at the bottom of my bed and put my hand over my heart like My Dad did in the Military. Now I know why.

RsWells: I know I use images in strange ways. Thanks for reading and for your encouragement.

HUGS TO ALL!
