As I walk thru the falling rain
Thoughts of you bear down on me
Causing that much more pain

I stay in the shadows
Hoping no one will see
As the rain pelts their windows

I don’t know what I have done
That made you leave me
Or that made what we had come undone

Now I am back where I began
Walking thru the rain alone and free
Was this the only thing that was on your plan

To make me love you
Just to set me free
I’ll not be free for with me I carry you

You own my heart
But you would rather be free
So I am just a number on a chart

So I am back where I started
Alone and free now I see
That my body and soul will soon be parted

As I walk thru the falling rain
Along the shore of the mighty sea
I will give myself to the sea and lose the pain

Soon I will be but a memory
But maybe when you hear the pounding rain
You will know that I am finally free

Then you will realize
That I am something you needed
But I will be just a memory

Sometimes our best writings come out of pain.  You let the pain show in this piece.  I hope it helped bring some relief.

Alan; I agree with the others about the poem. It is a sad poem, but you write this type of poem so very well my friend. Wanda

Awfully intense, Alan. I am sorry you have to carry around this much pain. Best to leave it out in the rain, and find a sunny spot. But that will may take some time.
