Finding Peace In All This Chaos

Awakening to a sweet serenade of birds,
I glance at my world and unvail the morning.
She is so sleepy, shy, and damp,
peeping through the rain-splashed,
wind washed cozy night.
I peer through an intricate lacy web
a night spider wove me with wonder,
to the morning, who is just like me
beginning to waken and stretch her limbs
in the warm, and crystal clear sunlight.

She dresses behind a curtain of splintered
clouds, of pink, gold and white.
Seeing her reflection in the pinkish water,
so still and hazed with sea mist of alabaster,
she peeks over the jagged mountains, still dark,
and snuggling along the horizon.

I have to look beyond the chaos in my mind
for I crave some peace in my thoughts.
I must seek out and find that familiar place
of internal serenity that soothed my soul.
There is a place inside me for sorrow, and mourning,
but today my quest begins to seek internal joy and wonder,
create balance and harmony in my heart and soul,
and find where my smile is hiding.

There is a room enough inside for this chaos,
and all the emotions, but to keep balance
in times of crisis is essential for my well-being,
so I dress and head for the peak for answers.
It is there I am so small in the scheme of things.
Wonder surrounds me and and I am humbled.

Slowly the sun lifts the low interior clouds
in a carpet of warmth, easing tentative
arms around the dark necked craggy peaks.
Fluffy cotton pink and white clouds reflect
Like a newborn baby’s skin, so soft, and new.
A blue sky sweeps to a magnificent, wispy white
cluster of high clouds on far off distant peaks.

The middle image golden clouds
reflect the flashing of the shy peeping sun
slowly creeping over mountain crags.
In all this terrible sadness
I have found some peace and a place of the sorrow.
I am so grateful and give praise
as I look around me, and see this wonder,
appreciating, the one thing I treasure most ...
I am alive for one more lovely day in this beautiful world.

~*~ That's me on top of the mountain ~*~
Sending you all a great big hug
from beautiful British Columbia, Canada

And you are a lovely lady!  You're very photogenic   And, you know that I love your t-shirt!  You go girl!

You choose a perfect midi - long live Louis Armstrong's classic!

Well done!

Take care,

And who's to say what might be

Melissa ~ I had hoped you might find this one! Thank you sweet Canadian sister.

Janet Marie ~ One day you must come - I can't even imagine the writing from you if you saw the ocean and mountains, I would buy the book!  And consider yourself "hugged Canadian-style"!

A lovely poem and I can understand your need to be out enjoying nature and marveling at the wonders.  It's so therapeutic. Lovely picture too and it makes me homesick, although I am from Alberta, not B. C.

This is just lovely, Sharon. Every thought and image is expressed with beautiful care, mmm mmm.  I dearly miss the mountains; there aren't many here in Kansas.  Great write, keep up the good work!

As beautiful as you are inside, your just as beautiful outside.... Your smile compliments this whisper of natures wonder.
It's a wonder that you stand there in God's work of art all by yourself. But, I guess from reading your other works I have an idea why.... YOu are one great poet laureate.
Love and peace Maggie

Flutterwings ~ You are too special, and to tell you the truth, when I am upset, I "head for the hills", as there you are so diminutive in the scheme of things, and the silence stills my being.  Thank you dear friend.

Sea ~ Thank you and yes they have a way of making things peaceful don't they?

Seeking solace in such serene surroundings shouldn't be difficult. Feel for the flatlanders whose horizons tax the limits of creative inspiration. As always a good honest write Sharon.
