A simple gift

My gift came in the mail today
A plain yellow envelope and
A 34-cent stamp of love
Address to me in the pen strokes of a caring hand
I knew not what message was sent
But already I felt a smile cross my face
I eagerly tore open the envelope
With the excitement of a child on Christmas morning

A card with a simple front
Not of a picture but one with a feeling
The breath of autumn

Opening the card I began to read
It spoke of times gone by
And times to come
Were confident understandings
And loving friendship will prevail
Trusting one another
Enough to end what was
And start anew
To let time change
What must be changed
And to grown and learn from time

Touched so deep my soul smiled
How could a few small pen strokes move me so
I was far from reality in exploring my soul
Bathing in the warmth a friend could give
When a voice brought me back
Asking a simple question
Why was I crying
Not knowing what to say
I smiled and walked away

A simple gift of words
From a simple friend

Thank you for all you have done my friend
We know of a gift we were given
A gift from God
One we made
From love
So small is the life
So depended on us
Lets walk together
Letting god mold our lives

“ X “ has so many meanings
So many feelings
But “ X “ to me
Is the marking on the greatest treasure map
Were riches untold are buried deep within
And just knowing that I hold a map
Were “ X “ marks the spot
Of true friendship
Is priceless

What a beautiful and touching poem!

Take care,

CookieMonster~
Very sweetly rendered.

'How could a few small pen strokes move me so'

And as poets ...
that's really all any of us should be stirred to do~

Thank you ... and welcome to Passions !

Thank you everyone, I don't write much but it seems the simple things in life touch me the most and move me to writing.  Your thoughts are warmly welcome.

All I can say is Beautiful!

You got to get up every morning with a smile on your face
and show the world all the love in your heart

Wow!
I'm not sure how to express how much this poem touched me. The message is sincere, that much I know.   God works in mysterious ways....
luv, your friend back home

Words tumble daily but as of late they seem to fall out into the real world seeking to grace paper with hearth felt meaning.

I should be asleep...but I'm skipping around the blue like I do so seldom these days...  I do so enjoy the moments of "blue"...

2009 now...thought I'd tell you again how much I appreciate your friendship.

this write still makes me smile
