Mother of us all
shine down on us
in our time of need

bring forth life
from the places
where darkness and death
have always reigned

clothe the spirits
of those who have gone
in your cloth of finest tapu
that they might know
peace at last

Goddess of the Moon
you who allows us
to bring forth good from evil
bless us with your light
and may mahina shine
always in our eyes

Art: Hina from Art of the Tarot

Hina is said to be the greatest of Polynesian Goddesses.  The creator of the world, and the mother of all humans.  She is best known as the woman who lives in the moon (mahina). There, she creates her beautiful tapu, which is cloth made from the bark of the mulberry tree, which we see as clouds surrounding the moon.

Hina represents that part of us that creatively brings forth life even in the midst of what appears to be destruction and decay.

Wow, what a captivating poem. Well-done. By the way, the image seems to be broken.
