Colours

the colourless face of a scientist
with lots of letters after his name
said that the human eye can perceive
around ten million shades of colour.

so many!  a generous amount
indeed with which to enliven
reflection’s canvas and flickering
shades of vision sublime.

yet, there is no denying the purity
of putrid, purple poverty
enveloping despair-drenched
shantytown slums of Jakarta,

the rippling, ochre vibrations
radiating from rock-topped ridges
in the endless tableau of
Central Australian desert

and the spurting, shamrock
tendrils of burgeoning hope
curling furtively to grasp
the sourcelight of first love.

such are the vivid hues of
experience, glowing effortlessly
with fleeting glory and candour
in each marching moment.

suddenly ten million colours
seems a shallow palette for
life’s crazed kaleidoscope,
rainbow-radiant in every fragment.

Bilby, your vision is indeed acute.  I know that we, as Americans, can surely benefit from a more 'worldly' awareness.

Thank you for this portraiture..

did I not say..that your talent would shine through?...very nice... the colours are brilliantly exposed in your words...

Such a wise view!  And such wonderful wonderful gosh everything!  I love your word choice and the images you create, and the way everything sounds so beautiful separated from each other, but even more awesome as a whole!
