Quiet the Ache

Softly airborne on chilly evening air
I hear the bleat of a heart, lonely
It could be mine own, yet,
its sound, foreign, remorseful
Leaves curled in apprehension
The moment captured in memory
like a Master's rendering, golden framed
A sound swept into twin tuning forks
channeled to the same pitch
vibrant with rhythm
Like straw and fire
an allure stronger than resistance
and twice as volatile.

Spring crept into my spirit
even tho it be Fall
I longed to touch and taste each day
In anticipation of our Time
Our moments so pure, they were like
the First Day of the Sun
Only ours to see:  fresh-faced, naïve
A thirst that pardoned all sin
Years of quarter-hearts finally filled to brim
Here was Life!
a secret of ages, discovered by two
You have quieted that agonizing bleat
In everything that is truly beautiful
there is you
This ache is immersed in sated void
a delicious want that takes your gentle touch
to satisfy my hunger

Let me take your hand, and raise it
in glorious praise of Him that grants peace
in thankful remembrance of a perfect gift
- that of your love -
