Somewhere... out there...

~Today...~

Today I found the anger
lurking silent 'neath the grief
mercilessly consuming me
it offered up no relief

Today the rage took over
no longer did it hide
Through tears I tried to hold it in
yet it would not be denied

Today I hurt my fellow man
with misdirected ire
My every word a dagger thrown
yet peace was my desire

Today I pray for guidance
a pathway through the pain
I pray my eyes will open to
a rainbow after the rain

you have not truly met the poet.

Sometimes the depth of the rage that we feel shocks us. It's all a part of the atrocity foisted upon us. Very well expressed, Vicky.

Vicky, I have to agree with Cindi, I don't think you could hurt anyone. You are just too sweet and kind.

I understand this poem so much.  I am afraid, I found myself actually glaring at someone yesterday and caught myself, what was I doing?  I think we go through stages in something like this Vicky, and after wanting to know all the facts, and there is still no answer, anger and fear set in.  I know this one well, and thank you for writing it as a reminder to stop the anger.

This is a sort of shell shock wave. That we all will feel. But I admire you for taking responsibility for it and calling it by name. It's a real emotion just like the rest. But I know I am guilty too of feeling harshly, when I should count to ten, or walk, or breath, or get drunk...no, but you get the meaning. You are still lovely and peace will come!

Sincerely,
Regina

I guess most of us are feeling what you are right now.  It's the next phase beyond shock and disbelief I think and the terrible sadness.
