Halloween has lost its flair.
No rubber mask or pointed hair
Or screams of "BOO!" called out with glee
Will strike a spark of fear in me.
True terror came down from the skies
And lies imprinted on my eyes
Now I live with a heart of fear
Since Halloween came quick this year.

Now I see demons everywhere
And ghosts of victims in the air.
Though bravado is what I show
I'm careful everywhere I go
And, for that reason , I will hate
The ones who put me in this state.
Things will not be the same, I fear
Since Halloween came quick this year.

Within my sorrow, I do yearn
For spooks and goblins to return
With smiling yells of "Trick or Treat!"
As we fill bags with coins and sweets
And innocence returns at last
Erasing this horrific past
But who knows when that will appear
Since Halloween came quick this year?

You have voiced so well the fears that are lying in all of us now.  I took my son to the circus last night to divert him from what has been happening and when I started into the arena, I had to pause and reassure myself that no one was going to blow up the building!  I am not going to stop going where I want to, but I will never feel the same about getting there.

Once again, you speak for us all.  Hate is something that is very difficult for me to feel. This is an exception. And I must turn it into action...

For all that remain, for all we've to regain.

You speak my feelings exactly, I wish for sleep!  I always enjoy for wisdom and A+ cadence.

All too true, old friend.  There is no way of knowing when this tradgedy will cease to instill us with awe and fear, and then it will only be less effectacious, never forgotten...
