For those of you who know me, you know I strive to lighten hearts, often with Balladeer as my foil.  I overcompensate for stress by use of humor, because sometimes it is the only way I can keep from caving in and curling up.  Sometimes I write seriously, but usually I prefer to leave that to others.  But not of this time, even though the Topic Subject could be viewed as such.  The strength I draw from humor that has carried me before is not there now.  I am blessed to have Susan (Lorelei54) in times like this, with her constant love and friendship.  I am also blessed with the support I draw from my fellow poets.

I'm taking some responsibility
For evening up the score.
I'll not wait content for our President
To visit their wretched shore.

I'm going to fight with the weapons I have
To sicken their souls and hearts.
They'll hate me more than they did before,
And they'll curse me for my part.

I've diligently worked in my service to
The public I swore to protect.
I've waded in deep and earned my keep,
But they ain't seen nothin' yet!

I'm dedicating myself in honor
To every life those killers refused.
There'll seem to be not one, but three
Doing the work that I produce.

My weapon will be the work I do,
The life I live and the people I love.
I'll be a better man, take stronger stands,
And not settle for "good enough."

They won't win here if we stand as one,
And honor our maimed and dead.
Then go the extra mile with a determined smile,
And "pour ashes on their head."

So that when they point to what they've done,
As they celebrate, dance and sing.
Our work will stand tall above it all,
Thus saying, "You haven't gained a thing."

My dear poetic friends - This one man, of any we have here as Passionate members, is indeed capable of carrying out this promise.  His words are very special. Trust in him - He knows of what he speaks.

Washington DC and our country are a better place because of the work you do, Mike.  I personally thank you and your colleagues; and I put my trust in you to help the world through this difficult time.

I love you and Susan dearly, and look forward to seeing you....

From their evil deeds we'll take not the lesson they intended us to learn, but what we can all together do to make the globe a better safer world for all of those cherish freedon and long to make the world a better place.

I knew there was no limit to the depths you could sink to but I had no idea!!!!!! I'm not treating you mean any more!!

Great writing, Mike. I echo Nan's sentiments. I feel a whole lot better knowing people like you are working on our side

Amen to that....we must unite and then the terrorists will have no strength.  We must use our spirit and our capacity to love.  Excellent writing, dear friend.

My dear friends...I thank you all for the support you give up, for your calls, and emails and concern knowing we live near DC...It's a rarity to see Mike write with so much passion as he states, humor is his way with dealing with pain, but inside this man, he in genuine, true, loving and sincerce every day of his life...and for him I am thanksful..

God Bless Us all

You know I missed this, don't know how...but I have to tell you, I know I sit up across the border, but I am petrified up here too, and you just made me feel one hell of a whole lot better, thank you for that, and I mean it.

Well, I'm late I know, haven't been in #15 for a while. Glad I caught this in time though.

Thank you Sir, LngJhnAg to express in this beautiful poem what everyone of us thinks.
