She stood there with her torch held high
To watch planes  falling from the sky
As silver bullets ripped apart
The center of her loving heart
With disregard for sanity
In senseless act of lunacy
She saw her children fall and die
The day I saw my lady cry.

I LIFT MY LAMP....so reads her plaque
Just miles from terrorist attack
Her open doors now violated
By pure evil orchestrated
Hounds of Hell have been released
And Good must rise to kill the Beast.
I saw her head droop, shaking "Why?"
The day I saw my lady cry.

Her tears will bring on bitter rain
Unleashing winds of hurricane
To circle globe in whirlwind force
Uncover evil at its source
Then seek exacting recompense
From those who prey on innocents.
They'll not forget, as time goes by,
The day they made my lady cry.

Excellent, Michael. No, they won't ever forget. They have show us only the depth of their baseless hatred. We shall show them righteous justice. No, they won't ever forget. Ever.

her land her city
earth defiled
her home

Oh my, Michael, this is the best poem thus far dedicated to this tragedy.  You've touched me deeply with this powerful piece.  Excellent use of a metaphor.

Michael,
This is very touching.  It's eerily ironic how this happened in front of our monument that represents freedom, to us and to other countries.  She now represents one voice to be heard around the world that terrorism will not be tolerated, and through it all, she still shines bright.

I cry with all of you with such pride in this poetry, and the people who stand strong with the lady, while she cries.  This was a fantastic piece Michael.

With a mighty stroke of the pen, you have lain our soul bare.  This horrible tragedy has struck us all.  What an excellent write.  It seems we are guided by a worthy hand.  Keep up the good work!

With my pen I shall create,
With my mind I shall explore,
With my strength I shall endure,
With my poetry I shall have legacy.

When I think I've surely read your best, you pen this magnificent piece with heart's blood. I've cried each time I've seen Lady Liberty beside the destruction, certain I see tear stains streaking her patined cheeks... Tears flow anew reading this poem I'll not forget.
