Black soleless eyes filled with hate and revenge
with no regard for human life - not even their own
They are the lifeless eyes of the madmen
the cowards who took so much away from us
Inhuman beings void of a heart
void of care
void of compassion
void of humaneness

Minds filled with rancid thoughts of
death and destruction of enormous proportions
Obsession with greed and power and
willing to make the ultimate sacrifice
But for what?

Too much to comprehend as this unbelievable
tragedy unfolds right before our eyes
Surely this must be another exaggerated Hollywood movie? - it can't possibly be happening
in our world
in our lifetime

Lasting images of planes ripping through buildings
and debris falling like confetti
from some ticker tape parade
Images reminiscent of a war zone as we have
only just begun to count the cost and the
tremendous loss of life

Lady Liberty is not alone tonight as she holds
her torch high above the New York skyline
We too hold our own torches and light
our own candles in rememberance
of those who have lost their lives
for no valid reason
Not only were lives lost in this tragedy
but we also lost a little faith in humanity
