They interrupted Oprah,
with images that broke through
the routine of the day.
today the sky fell,
twin towers burning
an instant candle vigil
crumbling and life ceased to be.
I could not believe some sort
of slow motion nightmare, planes
don't crash into buildings
in twos. My mother visibly shook
I retreated, it is news, words mere words
But repeated and repeated again,
The building caught from all angles
I can hear them screaming,
and now and now I know
the scar that burns every eye
that watched on in abject horror,
frozen in that moment replayed
at 6pm, 9pm and again at 11pm.
The world stood still, these words…
Writing here in futile attempt to make sense
Of this.. a terrorist attack.
Two planes, a building These were the weapons??
Filled with people in that instant reduced to statistics.
They got what they wanted
those twisted………made the world stand still.

=============================

I did not want to write this, but the words refused to go away, in the same way that what happened refuses to. This poem does not matter it is a futile attempt to make sense of something incomprehensible. MY thoughts are with all Americans during this dark hour.

You may think this did nothing for anyone - I disagree.  That the rest of the world is watching, and hurting, along with us, is something that says to me "we care"...so this, my friend, is important.  Thank you!

thank you for this CX...
in the next weeks and months we will all find
our own words..and then healing in the release of them...
for today your words touch me..."quiet comfort"...

take care
peace and poetry

Well I looked to the sky for my anthem
The words and the music came through
But words and music can never touch
The beauty that I've seen in you

CitizenX~
May we all be blessed with 'finding our words'
and sharing them with others.
