He’s the lone gunman
Acting on orders
Came for the U.S.
Easing through borders

His gun was too shiny
So he got him a blade
Boarded the big jet
His mind was all made

*This is Osama bin Laden trying to reach the U.S. *******
I wonder why they keep hanging up?
*This is Osama bin Laden trying to reach the U.S. *******
I sure thought we did warn them?

He was just working
Up in the tower
He’d get his break in
Bout half an hour

Maybe some coffee
And something to eat
He’ll read the news and
Walk on the street

This is the President of the United States*******
We are up against a faceless coward
This is the President of the United States
trying to reach the public of the U.S.*******
I wonder why they keep hanging up?

I like the way your poem goes except for your comment about the President.. I feel enough has been said about the President.. it is time to come together and support him as our leader, and from what I have heard today on the news I do see people putting politics aside, consentrating on the important issues that face us as a nation. Like the song says "Come together now"

non-connection
never littler
fueled infection
replayed hitler
mass injection
sieged in terror
voice inflection
death, the bearer
stripped of power
bloodbath pouring
souls in cower
without warning........

i can see where you are coming from song bird but it just erks me that we weren't on full alert from the time bin Laden warned us but then again maybe we were and people just had to die...

Doreen did you get that mail in hopes to cheer you up?

I don't think Walt is cutting at the president...rather he is berating the public for berating the president.  Reminds me of another song...Don McLean sang "Vincent".

"Now I understand,
What you tried to say to me...
And how you suffered for your sanity;
And how you tried to set them free.
They did not listen, they're not list'ning still.
Perhaps they never will."

You can't wake a person who is pretending to be asleep. -- Navajo Proverb

Actually this is how the poem unfolds...the lone gunman is either the terrorist or bin Laden either way they are not lone gunman cuz they are acting on orders... bin Laden tried to warn us three weeks ago about an upcoming attack...i never heard about it course I may have missed it but it seems that ole Bush and folks who I love to death (for now) seemed to keep it a secret. So bin Laden wonders why the U.S. keeps hanging up. The second half I depict a regular joe workin at the tower not knowing what is about to happen to him as it seems (maybe I don't have all the facts) the government wanted him not to know. In my opinion then if the Prez now wants to take action then I aint gonna listen! (although I'm sure they been on the case for awhile now that didn't save Average Joe x 40000 lost lives)

I do love the song Vincent and got to see Don McLean perform it and American Pie at an outdoor concert and it rained while he sung 'Pie and by the end there was a rainbow. o yuh!!

That's the first explanation by an author I've read here. LOL  Thanks for clarifying

Walt, I tend to agree with you, it sure does seem like something should have prevented this. Its good that we are all pulling together now, but its a bit late for all the lost people and their families.
Peace to you
Sandra

We are paying the intelligence community lots of money to keep an eye on developing situations such as this and it looks like they have dropped the ball...and in comparison they dropped the ball during the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor also...James
