time has an annoying habit
of taking you
by its reins
and charging you
into unknown territory

as i reflected
last thursday
when i awoke
and realised
i am legally an adult

Amidst the self-indulgent smirks
and merriment
(Yo! I made it through puberty!)

i couldn't ignore
this escalating pinch
holding me hostage

Like a grain of sand in a beach,
i felt inconsequential
Very soon, my prime would be over
and i would die and decompose
and my remains would mingle with the soil
and earnest plants would absorb my nutrients
and that would be the end of me in this dimension at least, perhaps forever

i related to
those ancient chinese emperors
always seeking elixirs
to secure their immortality and omnipotence

of course i couldn't follow their examples
i am just a mere school boy

i just hope to
increase my
futile chances of permanence
by noting this down

so that
when people
come across
this musing,
they would
know of
a faterider
who tried to do some good
during his time

You definitely are making a difference. A friend told me about the hunger site, recently, and I have been trying to remember to go there every day. Every click helps!
