We wondered that she hadn't wed.
Our aunt must have a story.
She told it gently so
We wouldn't be too sorry.
"I've had a full life
And all of you, my dears.
This happened long ago.
Please don't waste your tears."

Going, gone, our summer
Once welcomed in with glee.
So many plans and promises
That were not meant to be.
Loving vows unspoken,
Summer slipped slowly by;
Taking all the happy dreams,
Dishonored by a lie.

A wedding dress hung limply;
Sentenced never to be worn,
As was the ring, he'd promised
With my finger to adorn.
A lie and then another,
Had torn my world apart.
I said goodbye to summer;
The one that broke my heart.

A sad tale softly told. I like this alot.

Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away.

Hi Joyce---You tell a good story, making the sadness a little easier to swallow.
