Soulmate
time's lasting love
oh, do desires come true?
I only have to gaze at you
our ecstasy is born of fantasy
where dreams become reality
soaring high on fate's sigh
beneath God's smile
soulmate

By Melissa P. Monette

A rictamater is similar to a cinquain
it consists of 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 syllable lines
the first and last line must coincide

"Poetry is not an opinion expressed...
it is a song that rises from a bleeding
wound...or a smiling mouth"

~Kahlil Gibran~

Short and sweet - lovely.

Melissa - do you think this style will lend itself to a good kitty kicker poem?  heh - Incidently, this was a great poem.  Nicely thought through.

I liked the pictures, and the way you wrote this.  I needed that lesson on rictameters.  Thank you.

This must be difficult, my mind tends to make rhymes of similar syllabic length in each line.
Nice work.

Rictameter, interesting.  Very nice poem, Honeybee.  How self-contained must the lines be?

30
years have given
me nothing less than you
and two daughters who believe me
when I say ‘I love you and I love you.’
So why am I now sitting here
with the cat, with this hurt
and myself, age
30?
