Too Soon Gone

Summer gone,
with it’s long twilight warm?
Gone with the first cool breeze
that gentles across the white sheet.

Summer's last fling
was in my splayed out dreams
of hot and torrid,
it flung off
in damp delight, the night,
so drenched and wrenched
from sleeping with the moon’s
full shine.

Too soon gone,
so to blanket me
cozy curled with feather pillow,
imprinted and whispering with spirits
that call me with my own voice.

September takes me,
to teeter on the brink
of falling time,
looking with realities check
both ways to see what’s coming.

I touch destiny in the fog
that amazes the garden
with dusky seep of relief,

a deep breath of me
says how dear this day,
this day that waits for filling

is too soon gone.

Excellent write, full of superb images, as usual, Martie!  I'm never disappointed when I read your poems!

tried to write a letter
to tell you how I feel,
but all I kept on writing
was slipping on the tears from the day...

yes, for sure for sure...today, because the night was good and cool, I ended up going outside just to get warm cuz the sun was warming up the air out there better than in here

enjoyed the trek through time on which you took us, Martie

So true, MArtie. Every day is too soon gone and, as we age, they are too soon goner to much faster!

When you write of flowers or seasons, you are unbeatable...everything else, you are simply magnificent
