Untitled

It needs a cottage to confess
Love or sin.
A quiet place where rough, gray stone
Confronts the unrelenting sound of the ocean
With shutters open to the sun
And the mercy of a smooth horizon.
It warms to corner in a room
A rocking chair whose slender wood
Imprisons gracefully the back
With stripes between
As if to say
Forget me not.
It strains to long beneath the weight
Of cirrus accumulating
Throughout the afternoon.
It wants, at last, the knock of dark,
The length of birch with black-robed parts
That stare, like jurists, from the hearth
Then quickly whisper back and forth
While two friends close upon a couch
Await the verdict.

It certainly wants all this...I've read it three times, and the images only expanded to take me in....

well done Sir...

Bob:

You paint the perfect scene..and my heart screams that the two would talk of love, but you are so clever in your thinking, to put an edge on it, with sin.  Great writing!!

Done masterfully, Bob, always with the most haunting of elemental style.

Peace.

Beautifully written. An english cottage setting. A getaway. I could see the spark but could also feel the awkward pose of the couple. Wonderful imagery.

Sincerely,
Regina
