A God fearing man

In that last gasping leap
From the living to the dead.
I shall not go in peace
But filled with growing dread.

Let only darkness greet me,
No door or light my guide.
Let me not see or hear thee.
Grant that my soul and I
Both died

And God smiled his terrible smile
And showed what must be seen
And then I saw both what am
And what I might have been

It's all a personal choice and decision, if you ask me, but I enjoyed seeing the decision made through the eyes of "a God-fearing man."

Very deep and personal Arthur.  One to sit by the fire with a cuppa and talk about perhaps.  Write on!!

No Arthur. I like the last verse. It finishes the poem very well.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
