There Was A Place ...

~*Marge Tindal*~

There was a place
a special place
where the wind blew free
where buffalo and wild mustangs
drank from clear sparkling springs
Valleys verdant with the bounty
from offerings of fertile soil
There was a place
a special place
rich with redskin toil

There came a chilling wind
blowing white across the land
there was a place
a special place
taken from red man

Driven to the edge of the wilderness
on The Trail that holds their tears
Nunna daul Tsuny
a special place
a crying place
where spirits are still revered

In the land that knows much sorrow
the ancient spirits roam
calling to the Rainbow Warriors
It's time ... it's time
Time to bring it home
There is a place
a special place
it calls us in urgency
to that place
that special place
joining hands
in harmony

~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~

Great and tender way to put the reason for the tears and the problem without disrupting the harmony of the poem and I loved the music.

The words, the picture, the music!  It all comes together to tell a sad but beautiful story Marge.  Well done, indeed.

angel wings on tapestry
landed strident history
upon the land,
mudlumped
persuaded,
held by the eagle,
freed by the mind,
souls entwined
on a headdress
created by
the crags of rocks,
ticks of clocks

invaded by the white

oh no!
there's nothing right
in this, but sweet sweet
solemn kisses on a brow,
forever now
the ground is owned

toned by music
drummed,
hummed
by rainmakers

fate is a fortune
heritage is king
voice of marge
in passion, sing

YES! she echoes
hearts of wolves
in textures pure

YES! her voice
proves evermore
will soar past mountains
and endure!!!!

Oh Marge this was so delicately done.  It is wonderful that there are voices to continue to spread the knowledge and dry some of their tears.  I loved this one, into the library it goes.

Marge
Your words were so very powerful in this piece and it was beautifully written.  It reminded me so very much of our Australian Aborigines and the hardships they faced when white man came and invaded their land.
Take care......Sue

It is only now in Australia that there are efforts to reconcile some of those events of the past.

Marge-
What can I say that I haven't said before?...
This is so touchingly beautiful...

"There was a place
a special place
where the wind blew free
where buffalo and wild mustangs
drank from clear sparkling springs
Valleys verdant with the bounty
from offerings of fertile soil
There was a place
a special place
rich with redskin toil"

"In the land that knows much sorrow
the ancient spirits roam
calling to the Rainbow Warriors
It's time ... it's time
Time to bring it home
There is a place
a special place
it calls us in urgency
to that place
that special place
joining hands
in harmony"

This left me with a lump
in my throat, and a tear in my eye.
Thanks for sharing this.

Hugs,

This is very good.  Very thoughtful.  The music also.  Enjoyed both.  But one does wonder sometimes if so many people really don't know what the Trail of Tears is, or if they just don't want to talk about it.
