In search of a tender man
with smiling eye and cheek
One who knows when I need to be strong
and knows when I long to be weak

Without diffidence he offers up
his independent heart
Calmly knowing he has found
his life's counterpart

There are no ties to bind our hands
nor clinging vines there to wend
around our separate freedoms that
caused all coupling to end

It's not fear holding me back
but lack of desire to own
I'm here, waiting until you find
I am your comfort zone.

"lack of desire to own". . .

this line struck me. . . I don't know why. . .

I like the flow of this. . . someone who knows what they want. . . but. . . there's something else here. . .

If men really want to know what women want here is the answer!!!!!

One who knows when I need to be strong
and knows when I long to be weak

Without diffidence he offers up
his independent heart
Calmly knowing he has found
his life's counterpart

You have captured the heart in a few words the things we (men) have the most trouble with....

Wow, I don't know if I can say just how real this poem is.  It makes me think of when my husband and I first got together... What a way you have with words!

And when you find him, send me his brother LOL

Seriously, beautifully chosen words. Very deep and very, very true. You speak for me too

Very creative choice of words.  You've done a wonderful job fitting them all together so splendidly.

Sharon-
   I'm really liking this one!

"In search of a tender man
      with smiling eye and cheek
One who knows when I need to be strong
and knows when I long to be weak"

"I'm here, waiting until you find
      I am your comfort zone"

   I know these feelings well...
   Beautifully said.

Is such an agreement possible? Could such terms be maintained? Thought provoking and a tad sad.
