Breaking free from the chains that bind,
the tortured soul within her mind.
No longer can she look into her past,
even when the pain doth everlast.
She must move on into the future,
and break the chains that try to contain her.
She knows not how, she just knows why,
she knows somehow she's got to try.
She hopes for tommorrow to bring a better day,
and asks God to help her along her way.
She must now take a different path
and try not to live in the aftermath
of a life that has often  made her cry,
she must now take wings and learn how to fly.
Down a different road her feet must take,
a new days journey she now must make.
It's time to break the chains that bind
the tortured soul within her mind.

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

What torment love brings upon us. You have written of the tormented soul in my mind here. The words are just so damn true. Wish I couldn't relate so well

If she knows that it's not right, then, yes, she must try. Good write.

We all have demons that torment us at times and it takes courage to cast them off...well done

Death comes not when we cease to breath, but when we cease to dream.

Very thoughtful piece. I enjoyed this.

Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away.

That right there got to me.
This poem drew me in and kept
me reading.  Thank you.
