i know
     that you require
     much more than this--
a tangible world
an old fashioned bliss

the distance between
keeps your heart at bay
     you wont allow
     your heart to stay

i cannnot ask
     my heart to wait
another moment
     may be too late

i've already fallen once--
               or twice, before
only to reach your closed
          guarded door

i know
     you require
          more than this
the warmth of body
blissful kiss,
for love to be a truth
     you know
for something valuable
     to grow

i've come to realize
that i do too...
i've dwelled in lonely
while love waits for you

     when you come by here
     call out to me
     i'll always hear you
     just wait and see

but love you, i cannot
with this perpetual ache
these moments of
          breakdown--
more than i can take

i took my risks
in loving you--
a thing you told me
not to do

but i dont own my heart,
               you see--
please love,
give it back to me...

i'll mend it a little
it'll be ok
i dont blame
          you
for my loving you
          this way

i'll learn to love you
as my dear friend
for friendship
doesnt have to end

i'll hold you
in the soul of me
if you'll let me
i'd like for it to be

go now, and find
     your tangible space
touch love up close
kiss lips of face

i know love,
both of us needs more
i'm letting go--
but not locking the door...

Such an exquisite picture you painted from your palette of fine words and I loved each and every word.  I hope you find the special love you're searching for.  Take care....Sue

Dg,

I had to say this to the man I loved three years ago. It was the hardest thing I'd ever had to do, but he and I've remained in touch. I know that I am a better person for having been in love with him, but also happy for him as he is now happily married to another. I understand your pain.

You know, it's a shame that something beautiful can be so sad --- then again, it's wonderful that even sadness can be made so beautiful.

"i've dwelled in lonely
while love waits for you"

Those lines are so beautiful in their sadness... this whole poem is simply beautiful. You've touched something in me with this one. In "closing the door" to one world... one love... you've shown the way to another.
I agree... one of your best! I'll be bookmarking this one

Hmmmmmm...well, I thought I had replied to this! LOL!
   So...I will NOW!

I really like this one lots!
Sometimes letting go is the most difficult
thing to do even when we know it's the
   best thing for all concerned.
   But, then...you know that.
Of course...you KNOW I can feel this one
   way down deep.
   Awesome write!

   Love and hugs,

PARKER...i know how you are love...now that we're in the closet(the archives)..no one is watching--its easier to speak in a dark room..

but i appreciate your stopping back in to reply all the same..

i write my heart as my heart will let me write it..sometimes it takes years to put this heart into ink...other times, its so very plain and simple in its complexities...

  thanks for coming back love...
