Green Leaves of Summer

Green leaves of summer changing their garments
Into the umbered purples and brown
Maple wears skirts in scarlet and aureate
Seasonal laureate wearing God’s crown

Yellow of locust, leaves like a willow
Lures eyes to focus on bough’s gentle swing
In breezes you flutter, dainty and agile
Leaves like a fragile butterfly wing

Wheat bent in cambers of golden-bronze petioles
Soft swaying ambers of feather tipped spears
Corn husks revealing all of fall’s flavors
Harvest to savor of plum and gold ears

October’s festival bursting in color
This is the best of all natural shows
Trees flaunting gowns in moments of brilliance
Lacking resilience to oncoming snows

Month of November, barren of foliage
Now we remember the sweet evergreen
White comes along and covers the scenery
No sign of greenery left to be seen

Indigo waters, lake before twilight,
Beavers and otters, set for the cold
Cycles of nature and all that it renders
Uncovers splendors  as winter unfolds

Each fall is pleasure meant for the spirit
Solely to treasure the season that glows
Seeds strewn in autumn await springtime folly
While red beads of holly show off in the snows

Only a very contented grandmother is allowed to pen so poetically....

Elizabeth~
This is just beautiful ...
and don't you think I didn't notice that interweaving of rhyme ....
Very intricately creative, lady~

Think I just have to keep this one to read over and over~

Indeed Marge, this takes more than one reading...

and as green leaves summer, it will recall the colorful times of Elizabeth's gifts...

Well done Lady Santos...

Even someone as color blind as I am can see these colors.  Smoothly written
